Ontario Guidelines for Economic Analysis of Pharmaceutical Products

The Ontario Guidelines for Economic Analysis of Pharmaceutical Products were published in 1994 and have not been updated.  They were meant to guide submitting manufacturers in the development of high-quality economic evaluations that are relevant to decision-makers.

The ministry's expert advisory committee, the Committee to Evaluate Drugs advises the Executive Officer of Ontario Public Drug Programs about public funding of pharmaceutical products in Ontario, after considering information on effectiveness, safety and cost.  This document offers guidance to those manufacturers who will be making submissions on how to address economic issues. As such, these guidelines suggest an approach that manufacturers of pharmaceuticals can consider when making submissions to the ministry.

Please note that the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH) published the "Guidelines for Economic Evaluation of Health Technologies: Canada" in 2006
