Spotlight On: Minister of Health and Long-Term Care's Update on LHIN Mandate Letters

Hon. Dr. Eric Hoskins, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care

This week, I sent mandate letters to each of the Board Chairs of the LHINs across the province. These letters mark another step forward in the transformation of our health care system in Ontario. You can find LHIN mandate letters posted here, or on each LHIN’s website.

In my mandate letter, I’ve tasked the LHINs with a number of ambitious goals – key priorities that will set the foundation for a transformed health care system. They include:

We have a lot of work to do over the next year, and the years to come, to deliver on our commitment to build a patient-centred, deeply integrated, accessible, and equitable health care system that provides people with access to the care they need, when they need it, where they need it. I know that if we continue to work together, and build on our shared commitment to improving the lives of patients, we can get there.

As we work through the staged transfers of CCACs to LHINs in the next several weeks, I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you – from the LHIN and CCAC boards and executive leadership to the frontline staff that visit clients in their homes every day. Thank you for all of your hard work. We couldn’t do it without your continued leadership, dedication, and support. I have full confidence that by working together, this transition will be smooth and seamless for patients.

Thank you again for all of your work in preparation for transition day and on the transformation of our health care system.
