Celebrating Innovations
Health Care Expo Celebrates Innovation in Ontario
For the third year in a row, groundbreaking achievements and projects in Ontario’s health care field were celebrated at the Celebrating Innovations in Health Care Expo. The 2008 Expo, which was held on April 22 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, was sponsored by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the Local Health Integration Networks. More than 2,000 people attended representing various parts of the health care sector and more than 300 interactive exhibits showcasing innovative programs were on display. The Innovations Expo offers the opportunity for health care professionals to learn about new programs and approaches taking place in different communities across the province. The annual event showcases a health care system composed of a variety of institutions, organizations and health care teams, working to find new and innovative ways to improve patient care. Each award winner received $20,000 for their projects to fund knowledge transfer. In the end, it’s Ontario’s patients who are the real winners, benefiting from the skilled, innovative and caring health care professionals who are featured at the expo. Patients will benefit further as the 2,000 participants take from the expo new ideas and approaches they can use to meet their community needs. This year’s winners were :
