Report to the Honourable David Caplan
Minister of Health and
Long-Term Care Concerning the Supervision of Stevenson Memorial Hospital December 2008
In June 2007, Mark Rochon was appointed by the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care as Supervisor of the Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH). Mr. Rochon's mandate was to review governance issues at the hospital and preparing a plan to create a new board and senior management team, in addition to implementing the Expert Panel’s recommendations on Maternity Services at the hospital. This included the partnership in obstetrics with the Southlake Regional Health Centre. As a result of the Supervisor’s work, SMH now has in place a new governance structure, Board of Directors and senior management team. The supervisor also oversaw the successful implementation of the recommendations of the Expert Panel on Obstetrics. Moreover, a new partnership with SRHC - called the Regional Maternal Newborn Program, is now in place. Mark Rochon, Supervisor at SMH, submitted his final report to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care in December 2008. The full report is available for download in PDF format, below :
