Recommendations for a Merger Plan

On March 9, 2005, the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) announced a merger plan to strengthen public health services for the residents of Muskoka and Parry Sound.

Effective April 1, 2005, public health programs and services are being delivered through two new Health Units named North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit and Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit.

Residents of Muskoka and Parry Sound will now be able to count on the leadership of a full-time medical officer of health, a team of public health nurses and public health inspectors who will be available around the clock, and strengthened capacity to deal with infectious diseases.
