In October 2007, Dr. Kevin Smith was appointed by the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care as Supervisor of the Huronia District Hospital (HDH). Dr. Kevin Smith’s mandate is to resolve local governance issues and re-establish a fully functioning hospital board after issuing a final report to the Minister.

The Supervisor presented his proposed solution to the community at a Public Information Meeting in Penetanguishene on April 28, 2008.

On May 21, 2008, the HDH Supervisor submitted his report to the ministry.
