The Health Professions Regulatory Advisory Council (HPRAC) recently submitted further advice to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care :

• Critical Links : Transforming and Supporting Patient Care: A Report to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care on Mechanisms to Facilitate and Support Interprofessional Collaboration and a New Framework for the Prescribing and Use of Drugs by Non-Physician Regulated Health Professions

In developing this report, HPRAC examined other jurisdictions, reviewed written submissions and published literature, interviewed experts and held public meetings and roundtables in six Ontario communities.

Changes to the regulation of health professionals that protect Ontarians and improve access to care are part of the McGuinty government’s HealthForceOntario health human resources strategy.

The Minister is now seeking public input on the recommendations in this report.
