In February 2005, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care requested the Healing Arts Radiation Protection (HARP) Commission review the guidelines and regulations of the Healing Arts Radiation Protection Act with a focus on the installation and operation of computed tomography (CT) scanners in Ontario dental facilities.

As a result, the HARP Commission reviewed various facets of CT, including technology, equipment, usage, radiation dosage, safety, and education.

In June 2007, Dr. William Lawson-Little, Chair of the HARP Commission, submitted his report to the Minister.
