Notice of Call for Applications for 64 new Long-Term Care beds in the City of Timmins

French

The North East Local Health Integration Network (NE LHIN) is inviting applications to build 64 new long-term care beds in the City of Timmins.  The NE LHIN will work closely with the Ministry of Health and Long-term Care (MOHLTC) in the evaluation and recommendation of applications. A decision on the successful awardee(s) is expected early in 2009.

If you are interested in obtaining approval for the development of LTC beds you should apply by following the process described in the Application Guidelines and Application Form.  Please note that there is an appendix to the Guidelines – Appendix 3.4 -  which is a sample of a Development Agreement that successful awardees would be asked to sign.

Having a site at the application stage is not a prerequisite.  However, should an award be granted it will be conditional on acquisition by the awardee, of a site suitable to the NE LHIN and the Ministry within 6 months of the date of the award, failing which the award may be cancelled immediately by the Ministry. Another qualified applicant may then be given the opportunity to develop the beds.

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Ministry’s financial, development, and operational requirements. In the interest of responding to community needs the NE LHIN will look favourably on applications that have the ability to be culturally and linguistically sensitive to the needs of the Francophone and Aboriginal populations.

Please note that obtaining an award for new beds does not provide assurance that if attached to a B or C class home, priority will be given to that home for redevelopment in the B and C Renewal Strategy.

The Application Guidelines and Forms can be downloaded from this site however completed application forms must be submitted in hard copy, and on CD, to the address noted below.  To ensure that you receive any updates on the process you may  send an email  to catherine.park@ontario.ca and your name will be added to a distribution list.  In addition, please check this site, and the website for the NE LHIN (www.nelhin.on.ca) regularly to see if any new information has been posted.

All applications must be received by 5 p.m., October 17, 2008, to the attention of :

David Clarke, Director
Health Capital Investment Branch
Health System Information Management & Investment Division
777 Bay Street, Suite 702
