2008 Physician Services Agreement
On October 18, 2008 an agreement was reached between the Ontario Medical Association and the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, called the 2008 Physician Services Agreement. This agreement reflects a shared commitment to provide family health care for all Ontarians and to reduce wait times in hospital emergency rooms. The agreement represents a major investment for the Ministry, and will be implemented over the course of four-years running through to the end of March, 2011. “We worked together with the OMA to develop an agreement that best reflects the health care needs of Ontarians. Communicating the details of the 2008 Physician Services Agreement to providers and health care organizations will be an important step in successful implementation over the next four years,” says Susan Fitzpatrick, Executive Director, Negotiations and Accountability Management, the area within the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care responsible for ensuring the Agreement is implemented. In order to provide health care professionals and facilities with ongoing information and updates on the implementation of the Agreement the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care has developed the 2008 Physician Services Agreement |
