Ontario is providing a $1 million capital grant to Hawkesbury and District General Hospital to develop a proposal and business case for a redevelopment project to help the Hospital meet future community health care needs and improve access to care. The grant will be used to help develop a plan for future capital redevelopment intended to: create dedicated space for ambulatory care programs; address growth pressures in chronic care, the emergency room and surgical suite; and, improve the location of the critical care and obstetrical units. “Our government is taking significant strides in upgrading Ontario’s hospitals,” said George Smitherman, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health and Long-Term Care. “The funding announced today will assist the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital take that crucial first step towards redeveloping its facility for the benefit of the local community.” “I am delighted over the generous contribution of the McGuinty government to Hawkesbury General Hospital,” said Jean-Marc Lalonde, MPP Glengarry-Prescott-Russell. “The McGuinty government recognizes the importance of health care in East Ontario.
