2008 Annual Report of the Chief Medical Officer of Health of Ontario to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario

Dr. David Williams’ annual report presents a ‘check-up’ on the province’s public health system. It focuses on Ontario’s capacity to prevent and respond to infectious disease outbreaks.

The report suggests that the Listeriosis outbreak of 2008 demonstrated the need for even greater cohesion within the system and highlighted the requirement for ongoing investments to continue to build capacity and further strengthen surveillance tools, capabilities and other resources to better respond to potential complex health threats in the future
