The Statistics

Colorectal cancer is not something most people think about every day. But the statistics show why you just can’t afford to ignore it.

  • When you catch colorectal cancer early through regular screening there is a 90 per cent chance of being cured
  • It’s the second leading cause of cancer deaths in Ontario
  • An estimated 8,300 Ontarians will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer this year 1
  • Approximately 3,400 people will die from it 1
  • Less than 30 per cent of Ontarians aged 50-74 did a Fecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT) in the last two years
