Overview

As health care professionals, your patients look to you for trusted professional advice and guidance when it comes to understanding the role vaccines play in helping to manage their health. Public opinion research clearly indicates that your recommendation is the key factor in a patient's decision to get the vaccines that will strengthen their immune system.

This page has several tools to benefit your practice and assist you in informing your patients about the importance of these vaccines and will be updated as new resources become available.

Guidance for Routine & Catch-Up Immunization Services

  • This document indicates the applicable vaccines for continued access for missed doses beyond age or grade-based eligibility criteria and outlines eligible cohorts, and the timeframe individuals must receive missed vaccine doses. Since several vaccines have age- or grade-based eligibility, some individuals may have missed their opportunity to receive the recommended vaccines under the publicly funded program as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and public health measures.

Immunizations for school attendance

Ontario's Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA) requires that children and adolescents attending primary or secondary school be appropriately immunized against designated diseases, unless they have a valid exemption.

All children attending school between ages 4 to 17 need to be immunized according to Ontario’s Immunization Schedule.

You can direct parents and guardians to the school immunization checklist to keep track of their child’s vaccines.
