Pharmacy Council Progress

On November 7, 2006, the government announced the establishment of the Pharmacy Council to provide expert advice on pharmaceutical and health policy to the Executive Officer of the Ontario Public Drug Programs. The council will help the ministry:

  • Develop the framework for pharmacists to provide professional pharmacy services, such as medication management reviews and chronic disease management
  • Build and sustain a strong positive working relationship between the Government of Ontario and the pharmacy profession
  • Participate in the bi-yearly review of the Code of Conduct


  • 11 meetings since December, 2006
  • Council provided leadership for the development and launch of MedsCheck
