Ontario Releases Chiropody and Podiatry Report

March 7, 2017

Ontario is releasing the Health Professions Regulatory Advisory Council's (HPRAC) Chiropody and Podiatry: Regulation of the Profession and the Model of Foot Care in Ontario.

The report recommends that the current list of drugs the profession may administer and prescribe be updated and that there be a change to professional titles.

In developing its report, HPRAC reviewed the College of Chiropodists of Ontario's application regarding the regulation of chiropody and podiatry and conducted two extensive stakeholder consultations.

The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care is releasing the report and holding a 45-day public consultation on the report and recommendations. Written submissions can be sent to

The ministry will be considering HPRAC's recommendations as part of its overall work on scopes of practice for regulated health professionals, and within the context of Ontario's Action Plan for Health Care, and other key government initiatives.

"I'd like to thank the Health Professions Regulatory Advisory Council for providing its recommendations as well as the public and stakeholders for their valuable input during Council's consultations."
- Dr. Eric Hoskins, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care
