Spotlight On: Year Two Progress Report - Patients First: Action Plan for Health Care

This week Ontario released its second Patients First: Action Plan for Health Care progress report.

The report highlights progress on the government’s commitment to health care by putting patients first, making it easier to access care, reducing wait times and improving the patient experience – protecting health care for today and the future. The Patients First: Action Plan for Health Care is the blueprint for changes to integrate the system. As part of this plan, the Patients First Act, 2016 initiated the structural changes required for us to achieve a system that truly puts patients first.

So, while the attention in these weekly updates has been on the transition of CCACs to LHINs, it is important to acknowledge work across the health care system that is driven by the Action Plan and will be further enhanced as a result of the Patients First Act.

The report identifies achievements towards improving the health care experience in four key priority areas, while delivering high quality care for patients, their families and caregivers.
