Statement from Minister of Health on Improving Quality and Transparency in Ontario's Non-Hospital Medical Clinics

Dr. Eric Hoskins, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, issued the following statement endorsing Health Quality Ontario's report titled Building an Integrated System for Quality Oversight in Ontario's Non-Hospital Medical Clinics:

"I have received the Building an Integrated System for Quality Oversight in Ontario's Non-Hospital Medical Clinics report from Health Quality Ontario. The report follows a request that I made to Health Quality Ontario to examine the current quality oversight programs in all non-hospital medical clinics.

I would like to thank Health Quality Ontario for its report and thoughtful recommendations. I support the report's recommendations and our government will examine options to put its principles into action to help ensure that patients have access to high quality health care services no matter where those services are delivered.

The recommendations align with the Patients First: Action Plan for Health Care and will help strengthen Ontario's efforts to ensure care is safe, effective and patient-centred by:

We will continue to consult with patients, caregivers, providers and leaders across the health care system as we work to implement these recommendations.
