Health Minister Seeks Input on the Role of Nurse Practitioners in Hospitals

Ontario’s nurse practitioners (NPs) are highly educated, skilled and competent health care professionals who provide a wide range of important health care services to Ontarians throughout the province and in a variety of health care settings.

The ministry is committed to continuing to explore, examine and implement opportunities to maximize the contribution of NPs to the delivery of accessible, high quality health care services in Ontario. In view of this, the ministry is initiating a public consultation on how patients might benefit from NPs admitting, discharging and transferring hospital in-patients.

A consultation document on this matter is available for download below.

The Minister is seeking your feedback on this consultation document.
